Session Notes
Session 3
4/26/2026
Scene 1
The Solars meet to go over their individual plans on how to accomplish the Dayshield’s tasks.
Golden Orchard Murders
Kekoa makes his way to the Golden Orchard plantation to speak with the Oroson family, but is met with callousness and demands from the family. He decides to investigate the areas of the murders and finds a trail leading away, following an irrigation ditch that eventually turns into a stream, a small tributary of the Yellow River.
On an island in the middle of a tributary is an old woman who asks, “Frost, is that you?”
Missing Orphans
As Susanoo and Tsubasa make their way to Trimble Park, they are assailed by a costumed villain in a clearly stolen Lookshyan skyship. The Jade Cicada threatens Susanoo and after a lengthy monologue, is chased off by a fleet of Lookshyan skyships.
At the park, after investigating and talking to people, the pair discover that the hedge maze featured prominently in the park was not there a month ago. Scoping it out, they find evidence of a pocket of Wyld energy. Susanoo uses his skills to bleed into the Wyld proper as they start searching for the 300 missing children.
Demon Activity
Rayna the Witch and Chains use the dossier given by Dayshield to help them investigate the demon cults in the city. Before the evening falls, they had investigated nine of the ten demon cults, finding nothing. One offered dental services for the poor, another was a BDSM sex cult and another was nothing more than a historical society full of LARPers.
The duo makes their way to their last stop when they find a group of Immaculate Monks bowing and exiting the cult compound. The two groups determine that the other might provide helpful information and they go to a nearby restaurant to talk shop.
Scene 2
Golden Orchard Murders
The old woman on the island shouts her question again, “Frost? Is that you?” When the Dawn Caste responds, the woman floats and darts towards him, complaining and telling her tale. She introduces herself as Winter Harvest and says the last thing she remembers was Frost helping her settle down for her seasonal sleep and when she woke up, new tenants had set up and nothing was the same.
Kekoa deduces that the goddess has been sleeping for 500 years, not the spring and summer she had expected. Shocked, she worries about Frost, her assistant. Winter Harvest suggests Kekoa take a look at the Roll of Glorious Divinity, kept in the Hall of Records in Great Forks.
Missing Orphans
The Bordermarches of the Wyld presents a narrative to Susanoo and Tsubasa as they search for the orphans: a Queen ant, purple and majestic, is dying. Out of her corpse pour millions of ants, red ants and blue ants. They are at war.
Tsubasa gets caught up in the drama of the conflict and seeks to help the warring ants negotiate peace. Susanoo, knowing it’s not their business, continues on and eventually leaves the narrative, arriving at a clearing where children are having picnics on rolling hills.
Demon Activity
The dinner with the Immaculates starts off tense, but the monk’s leader, Father Katha Jiro Sen, eases their worries by announcing their sect is a bit more forgiving than the other Immaculates they might have encountered. The group shares a meal and information about the cults.
After the meal, while everyone is patting their bellies, Father Jiro Sen states their next lead is at the House of Learning–and the sorcerers that teach there. He offers for Rayna and Chains to join them, which they accept.
Scene 3
Golden Orchard Murders
Kekoa finds the information he needs in the Roll of Glorious Divinity, discovering the Golden Orchard farmstead was established about 500 years ago by the god, Golden Orchard, who changed his name from Frost at about the same time.
He returns to the farmstead to find Winter Harvest in front of the farmhouse, ready to confront the Oroson family, who have gathered a force of mercenaries.
Missing Orphans
Susanoo is greeted, welcomed even, by the fair folk calling himself the Caregiver. All of the children are happy and well taken care of; even Ms. Mary seems to be fine. When Susanoo asks when the children can leave, the Caregiver gets confused. “They’re happy here.”
Realizing he was going to be getting into a debate he’s not equipped to deal with, Susanoo says he’ll return and turns to walk back, hoping to find Tsubasa.
Demon Activity
The Immaculate Monks, Rayna and Chains make their way to the House of Learning and are granted access to observe Dr. Krinval, professor of demonology and summoning arts, during his lecture. The group goes to the viewing balcony and Rayna’s expertise in magic allows her to scrutinize Dr. Krinval’s ritual. The summoning circle is correct; Rayna identifies Demons of the First Circle being cast.
Soon enough, a blood ape stands in the circle, beaten in the battles of wills. Dr. Krinval allows the class to gasp and eventually says, “Now to banish this pitiful creature,” and begins to cast Banish Demons of the First Circle. Chain’s boon from Susanoo and Rayna’s sorcerous sight allows them to see the blood ape dematerialize. Rayna notices that the professor stops casting the spell before the rites are finished, while the blood ape hides in the corner of the room, unnoticed by the others.
Session 2
3/22/2026
The adventure continues in the cavern. Tsubasa immediately questions the woman, Midnight Crystals, who appears to be a Daybreak caste Abyssal. Tsubasa oathbinds the Abyssal: letting her live so they can help each other and when it's over, answering the questions the Solars have. While they're debating, everyone hears a nasty retching sound coming from the north and the ankle-deep ichor raises to just below knee level. Kekoa and Rayna attend to Midnight Crystals as hungry ghosts appear from the north. Rayna bandages Crystal's leg. Chains hides to resestablish surprise. The hungry ghosts press on and Midnight Crystals asks them to trust and protect her, that she can take care of the immaterial hungry ghosts. She casts the Necromancy spell Emporer's Chains, binding them in place.
Seeing her opportunity once the ghosts are immobilized, Rayna begins to cast sorcery and soon the ghosts are blown apart by Flight of the Brilliant raptor. Susanoo, after combat, sends his robots to scout ahead. Ahead is a kind of workshop and an amalgum of corpses sewn together, a golem of human flesh. Frantically working on the golem is a Nephwrack, Stuttered Whispers. He thinks the intruders are offerings to his project, willing or otherwise, and attempts to persuade them to cast their souls into the Void.
Failing to sway anyone, Kekoa and Susanoo squash the Nephwrack while Chains has his meteor hammer wrapped in a grapple around the golem's one good leg. Stuttered Whispers was destroyed moments before he was to possess the golem using the charm, Embalmer's Art. Moments after the ghost's defeat, voices could be heard from the hole in the sewers--Enforcers who drop a rope ladder and ask the circle to meet with Shield of a Different Day, one of the three rulers of Great Forks. Midnight Crystals seems to have disappeared (possibly turning herself into a flock of bats).
The Solars are led to an empty barracks, which is given as free reign to use as a workspace. The next morning, they're transported to the Palace of the Three where they meet with the Dayshield. She thanks them for their help. She wants to trust them, but needs them to earn it; she gives them four tasks to complete to earn her trust. Finally, she grants them stay at one of the estates only a block away from the Palace. It's huge, furnished and rent-free--for now.
Session 1
2/22/2026
The adventure starts with the Solars in a Great Forks marketplace, around noon. The crowd around them begins to act strangely: half of the mortals are singing strange notes while the other half are violently attacking anything in their way. Great Forks'Enforcers rushed to break up the melee but those who were mortal entering the area were also affected. The Solars, Rayna the Witch, Tsubasa Haifeng, Chains, Kekoa and Susanoo, yet unknown to each other, dealt with the bedlam. After a short period of time, the chaos stopped, and the souls were visibly sucked out of the mortals in the square. Susanoo consecrated the area, creamating all the bodies, but felt that there was something missing. Tsubasa gathered the survivors to plan relief; Rayna, with her Charm, was able to see the souls disappearing into a sewer.
The Solars investigated the sewers, where they spot a strangely clad woman holding an Artifact running from them. After a chase, Susanoo smashes his Power Mace into the floor, causing the structure to crumble away, and a free fall to a cavern below. The woman broke her leg. There's a thick ichor, ankle deep. It's dark, and they know they're not alone.
